Donja Stubica

On the territory of 44 km2 in settlements 5930 people live. Donja Stubica is the seat of the known peasants uprise in 1573 led by the national hero Matija Gubec. In the course of the past eight centuries Donja Stubica has been the center of the economic and cultular life of the whole region northwards of the Mountain Medvednica.

In this area the rich cultural wealth has been conserved: six secular, five cacral cultural monuments and four archeological findings. Owning to this cultural and historical inheritance Donja Stubica in 1997 the status of town was given. In the town the cultural association "Kajkaviana" whose main acivity is the conversation of the local dialect interitance, the galery Drempetić, Cultural association Stubica and many other sport associations act.

The economic perspective could be seen in the developpment of the small familiar iniatives in the trade, manufacture and turism. In the town several bigger plants such as "Metalis", "Hidraulika Kurelja", "Trgostil", "Frassinox" and "Perfa" are the regular function.
